# The company wiki that finds what you are looking for.

ThurWiki is the company wiki for everyone who wants to leave Confluence, MediaWiki, XWiki, BookStack or Notion behind: with a search that finds things inside attachments, with invoices, tickets and issues from your own systems right on the page, and with an editor nobody will force you off. Run in Switzerland.

## You know the feeling.

Four voices from forums and the trade press. And what ThurWiki changes about each.

> “The search is so bad that I wasn't able to find many important process documents and just assumed it had never been created.” — Atlassian Community, March 2025
> Quelle: https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Confluence-questions/Confluence-search-function-complaints/qaq-p/871002

**Search by sound and by meaning**, right into every attachment: Office, PDF, scans, archives. A typing mistake does not leave an empty list.

> “Documentation goes stale silently. Unlike code, there's no test suite that goes red when your runbook references a deprecated service.” — Atlassian Community, February 2026
> Quelle: https://community.atlassian.com/forums/App-Central-articles/Your-Confluence-wiki-is-confidently-giving-people-wrong/ba-p/3192612

**Facts straight from the source.** Customer, invoice, ticket, configuration: a macro fetches them from the system where they are maintained, instead of somebody typing them out. One click brings the latest state, and every refresh appears in the history.

> “Editing hundreds of pages in the new editor was just too painful.” — Atlassian Community, July 2025
> Quelle: https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Confluence-articles/The-Legacy-Editor-is-being-deprecated-in-Confluence-Cloud-Here-s/ba-p/3046832/page/2

**One editor, no forced migration.** A ribbon, tables with merged cells, sorting and filtering while reading. No add-on apps that stop working after an update.

> “… on average, we can expect those who migrate from DC to Cloud to pay around 28 percent more.” — Rodney Nissen, independent Atlassian consultant, quoted in The Register, September 2025
> Quelle: https://www.theregister.com/2025/09/09/atlassian_will_go_cloudonly_customers/

**No surcharges per head.** Every macro, every connector, draw.io and two-factor authentication: included. AI on your own key, without credits. You pay per wiki, not per user.

## Where are you coming from?

ThurWiki imports with a preview. Nothing is written before the last step, and a run can be repeated without pages appearing twice.

## What is different on Monday.

*Bild: Result list of the search with a hit inside the attached PDF, marked*

### Finding instead of searching.

Titles, text and the content of attachments. By sound and by meaning, and only what you are allowed to see. You will find an attached price list through an amount that appears nowhere but inside it.

[The search →](https://thurwiki.ch/en/features.html#suche)

*Bild: The customer Muster Elektro AG from bexio as a card on a wiki page, with outstanding invoices*

### Facts straight from the source.

The customer from bexio, the ticket from WHMCS, the issue from Jira, the file from Git: as a macro on the page, fetched instead of typed out. One click brings the latest state.

[41 connectors →](https://thurwiki.ch/en/connectors.html)

*Bild: The TABLE tab in the ribbon with merge cells, header row, sorting and search field*

### Writing as in Word.

A ribbon, keyboard shortcuts, tables like Excel's. Several people at once, without conflict. No markup, no build step, no forced migration.

[The editor →](https://thurwiki.ch/en/features.html#editor)

*Bild: Comparison of two versions of a page: the removed line in red, the new lines in green*

### Approval where it is needed.

Whoever may suggest submits a change; the approver sees the comparison. Four eyes on every change, without an add-on. It supports document control under ISO 9001 and ISO 27001: who approved it appears in the history, with the time.

## Confluence needs the marketplace for this. ThurWiki does not.

41 connectors are part of the product: commercial systems, source code, ticket systems, Jira, software builds, operations, file storage, CRM, groupware, messaging, AI, search and images. Their macros fetch the content from the source instead of having it typed out, and one click brings the latest state. From the data sources the wiki only reads; who sees the content is decided by the rights inside the wiki.

*Bild: Project from bexio with recorded hours and the quotation with its line items*

### bexio, WHMCS, Abacus

Contact, invoice, quotation, project, recorded hours, customer, services, tickets, records with their history.

*Bild: Issue list from Jira with key, status, assignee and priority*

### Jira, ticket systems, Git

Issue, issue list and project from Jira, Mantis, Redmine, Request Tracker, Zammad, YouTrack; from Gogs, GitHub, Bitbucket and GitLab the file with a line range, the latest changes, issues and pull requests.

*Bild: Configuration file from Git with syntax highlighting on a wiki page*

### Operations, files, CRM, messaging, AI

Zabbix, Proxmox, Jenkins, SonarQube; Nextcloud, Seafile; SuiteCRM, vtiger, CalDAV, CardDAV, mailbox, SMTP, Telegram, WhatsApp; Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, LiteLLM, Ollama, Whisper.

[All 41 connectors and their macros](https://thurwiki.ch/en/connectors.html)

## And in the other direction: your systems reach into the wiki.

36 endpoints, 257 actions, documented: monitoring, ticket system and intranet all reach in through the same API the user interface uses. API keys are service accounts with rights of their own and appear in the log under their name.

[More about the interface](https://thurwiki.ch/en/administration.html#api)

WIKI=https://wiki.your-company.com # Read a page as Markdown curl -s -H "Authorization: Bearer $TW_KEY" \ "$WIKI/api/pages.php?action=get&id=412&format=markdown" # Create a page from monitoring curl -s -H "Authorization: Bearer $TW_KEY" \ -d action=create -d space_id=12 \ -d title="Outage 11 September" \ --data-urlencode content_markdown@report.md \ "$WIKI/api/pages.php" # Full-text search curl -s -H "Authorization: Bearer $TW_KEY" \ "$WIKI/api/pages.php?action=search&q=emergency+power"

One endpoint per file, actions as parameters, answers as JSON. The documentation ships with the wiki.

## What you do not pay extra for with us.

With Confluence Cloud, the marketplace apps and the AI credits come on top of the per-seat price, and both are charged per user. With ThurWiki all of that is simply what you get, and you pay per wiki.

Confluence: Atlassian Guard, a separate subscription per user**Two-factor authentication and security keys**

Two-factor authentication per user and WebAuthn in every package. Signing in with your company account (OpenID Connect, SAML 2.0, Entra ID, Google Workspace) belongs to the Enterprise package – there with no extra subscription and no price per head.

Confluence: the marketplace, per app and per user**85 macros, 41 connectors**

Notices, columns, charts, Excel, tasks, approvals, voice notes, Jira, bexio, Git, Zabbix, CRM, calendars. No marketplace, no dependency.

Confluence: Gliffy or draw.io as an app**draw.io in our own house**

Draw network diagrams and flowcharts, editable and sharp. It runs on our server, not at a third party.

Confluence: Rovo, a credit allowance per user and plan**AI without credits**

Your own key at Claude, OpenAI, Gemini or DeepSeek, or Ollama in your own house. We do not charge for the usage.

From CHF 4.90 a month. One price per wiki, with no surcharge per user, for macros, connectors or AI. [Packages and prices].

## Packages and prices.

One price per wiki, not per user. How many people write makes no difference. The packages differ in size; the only feature that depends on them is signing in with your company account.

## An AI that sees only what you see.

The assistant knows the page you have open. It drafts, summarises, builds tables, searches the wiki, creates pages. By voice as well, if you like. And it works with the rights of the signed-in person, not with an administrator's.

- **Your rights.** What you may not see, it does not see. Not even as a title.

- **Writing only when ticked.** Every change stands under your name and can be brought back.

- **A model in your own house.** Ollama or LiteLLM for confidential company matters. For that the address of your server has to be entered; without it the access cannot be saved.

- **Every step is on show.** Above the answer: which search it ran and which pages it read; below it the model, the time taken and the tokens.

- **Speaking instead of typing.** A microphone button in the assistant, through the browser's own recognition or through Whisper in your own house.

## 2029 is closer than it sounds.

Atlassian is discontinuing Data Center ([the announcement](https://www.atlassian.com/licensing/data-center-end-of-life)). Anyone running Confluence in their own house who does not want to move to the Atlassian cloud needs a way out before then. We tested the import against a real customer's content: 917 pages and some 2900 macro occurrences.

**30 March 2026** No more new Data Center licences.

**30 March 2028** No more expansions for existing customers.

**28 March 2029** Support ends, instances become read-only.

[How the move out of Confluence works](https://thurwiki.ch/en/migration.html#confluence)

## At a glance.

**Structure** Spaces with a page tree, as deep as you like; a personal space; a recycle bin; an archive. Identical titles allowed, for instance "Maintenance" under every site.

**Editor** A ribbon with HOME, INSERT, TABLE; merge and split cells; sort, filter and number while reading; write at the same time as others.

**Search** Titles, text and attachments in more than 60 formats, including scans and archives; Cologne phonetics and meaning; only what you may see.

**Macros and connectors** 85 macros in 21 groups, 41 connectors in 13 groups; data sources read-only, rights from the wiki.

**Access per address** Per account and per API key, a list of permitted addresses or networks; for a key it is checked on every call. With no entry, "from anywhere" applies.

**A review date per page** A responsible person, a date, a repetition; a notice on the page for every reader, a reminder to the responsible person, confirmation with one click.

**Export** Chosen pages and whole branches as one PDF, up to 300 pages, with macros and drawings as in the browser; every page as Markdown through the API.

**Working together** A version on every save, comments on the text, approvals, voice notes and meetings with transcripts, notification by e-mail, Telegram or WhatsApp, chosen per person.

**Rights and sign-in** Nine rights across user, space and page; groups; 2FA and WebAuthn in every package, SSO over OIDC and SAML in the Enterprise package; API keys as service accounts.

**Import** Confluence Cloud, Server and Data Center; MediaWiki; DokuWiki; XWiki; BookStack; Notion export; Markdown. With a preview, repeatable.

**API** 36 endpoints, 257 actions; page content in and out as Markdown; everything the user interface can do.

**Operation** Switzerland, ThurData's own infrastructure; intrusion detection, country restrictions, encrypted secrets, a log. Four languages.

## Questions from people switching

**Is ThurWiki an alternative to Confluence?**

Yes. ThurWiki covers what companies use Confluence for: spaces with a page tree, an editor with a ribbon, macros, versions, comments, approvals, fine-grained rights, Jira on the page. On top of that comes what Confluence can only do with marketplace apps: content from bexio, WHMCS, Abacus, Git, ticket systems, Zabbix, CRM and calendars directly on the page. Existing Confluence content is imported with a preview, from Cloud as well as from Server and Data Center.

**What happens to Confluence Data Center in 2029?**

Atlassian has announced the end: since 30 March 2026 no new Data Center licences, from 30 March 2028 no more expansions, and on 28 March 2029 support runs out and the instances become read-only. Anyone who does not want to move to the Atlassian cloud needs a way out before then. ThurWiki imports from Data Center and Server with a preview.

**Does the search really find what is inside attachments?**

Yes. The search reads the content of attachments too: Office files old and new, PDF even as a scan, images containing text, e-mails, source code, CAD exchange formats and whatever sits inside ZIP, 7z and RAR archives. It searches by sound and by meaning: Meier finds Maier, and a typing mistake does not produce an empty result list. Only what the signed-in person may see is found; everything else does not appear, not even as a title.

**What do the macros, the connectors and the AI cost?**

Almost nothing. Two-factor authentication and security keys are part of every package; signing in with your company account (SSO over OpenID Connect and SAML) belongs to the Enterprise package – there with no extra subscription and no price per user, unlike Atlassian Guard with Confluence. All 85 macros and all 41 connectors belong to the product; there is no marketplace. The AI runs on your own key at the provider or on a model in your own house, with no credits from us. The wiki itself starts at CHF 4.90 a month; the Business package with 20 spaces and 1500 pages costs CHF 19.90. Fourteen days can be tried free of charge.

**Is there an API for connecting the systems around it?**

Yes, and it is the very same one the user interface uses: 36 endpoints with 257 actions, documented. Spaces, pages, versions, attachments, comments, tasks, search and users are all addressable; page content goes in and out as Markdown. Access runs through API keys, which are treated like service accounts with rights of their own and appear in the log under their name.

**Where does the data sit?**

In Switzerland, on infrastructure owned by ThurData GmbH in a former Swiss army bunker. ThurData is a Swiss company with no US parent; the US CLOUD Act does not apply. Requests from foreign authorities go through Swiss authorities and Swiss courts. No tracking, and one contact with a name. draw.io and the thumbnails of the image search also run over our own server.

**Can we try ThurWiki on our own pages?**

Yes. We set up a demo wiki for you and, if you like, import twenty of your pages from Confluence, MediaWiki, DokuWiki, XWiki, BookStack or Notion, with a preview before anything is written. That way you see on your own content what the migration would look like.

ThurWiki is wiki software from Switzerland for knowledge management in companies: an intranet wiki, an internal knowledge base, a Confluence replacement. It is built for companies that want to replace their wiki: because of a search that finds nothing, because of pages that quietly go stale, because of an editor the maker switches off on its own timetable, because of prices assembled from seats, add-on subscriptions, apps and AI credits, or because Confluence Data Center ends on 28 March 2029.

ThurWiki brings 85 macros and 41 connectors with it: invoices from bexio, customers and tickets from WHMCS, records from Abacus, issues from Jira, Redmine, Zammad and YouTrack, files from Gogs, GitHub, GitLab, Nextcloud and Seafile, hosts and problems from Zabbix, virtual machines from Proxmox, build results from Jenkins, contacts from SuiteCRM and vtiger, appointments from CalDAV, messages from the mailbox. Meetings and voice notes you record in the browser; speech recognition writes them out if you want. The search finds by sound and by meaning right into PDF, Word and Excel attachments. Four-eyes approvals, simultaneous editing, two-factor authentication and WebAuthn are all included; SSO with Entra ID and Google Workspace belongs to the Enterprise package. You connect the surrounding systems through the documented REST API: 36 endpoints, 257 actions, API keys as service accounts, Markdown in and out. Import with a preview from Confluence Cloud, Server and Data Center, MediaWiki, DokuWiki, XWiki, BookStack, Notion and Markdown; from Wiki.js, Docmost and Outline through their Markdown export.

As a BookStack alternative, ThurWiki brings what BookStack users miss most often: a page tree as deep as you like instead of shelf, book, chapter and page, and simultaneous editing in which the changes flow together, rather than a mere warning that somebody else is writing. As a Wiki.js alternative, operation, backup and updates done by us, without waiting for the next major release. As an XWiki alternative, a wiki that gets by without scripts of your own and whose operation we take on.

## Twenty of your pages. One afternoon. Then you will know.

We set up a demo wiki and import a slice of your content, with a preview. You see search, macros and the editor working on your content, not on ours.
